Leon Brooks III is a native Houstonian who has spent his life in Houston and has served in pastoral ministry for over 21 years. He came to faith in Christ in 1997 during a return trip from a CRU college conference (Impact) in Atlanta, Georgia, and his life was profoundly changed.
Leon studied journalism at Texas Southern University and later, after sensing God’s call into ministry, completed his undergraduate degree at the College of Biblical Studies. He also holds a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary – Houston Campus and was ordained in 2007.
In 2021, he was named Campus Pastor of Houston's First Baptist Church - Downtown, where he is passionate about preaching the Gospel and making disciples.
Leon has been married to his wife, LaShawn, for nearly 25 years, and together they have five children. Outside of ministry, he enjoys basketball, reading, traveling, and spending time with his family. He is also a devoted Houston sports fan, cheering for the Texans, Astros, and Rockets!
